The oral attenuated vector vaccine against Helicobacter pylori is a recombinant live vaccine candidate developed by the Institute of Bioengineering at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS). It utilizes an attenuated bacterial vector, most commonly *Salmonella typhimurium* (such as strain SL3261) or *Salmonella typhi* (strain Ty21a), which has been genetically engineered to express key *H. pylori* antigens, primarily the urease subunit B (UreB) and occasionally the *H. pylori* adhesin (HpaA). Administered orally, the vaccine is designed to mimic a natural infection to stimulate the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). This process induces a robust mucosal immune response characterized by secretory IgA (sIgA) and a systemic response with IgG antibodies, both of which aim to prevent the colonization of *H. pylori* in the gastric mucosa. This approach is intended to provide long-term protection against *H. pylori*-associated diseases, including chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric adenocarcinoma.
