Overview
Oral HDV-growth hormone is an experimental oral formulation of growth hormone (somatotropin) developed by SDG Pharma using its proprietary Hepatic-Directed Vesicle (HDV) nanotechnology. The HDV platform utilizes small (20-50nm) bi-layer phospholipid vesicles containing a hepatocyte-targeting molecule to protect the protein from gastric degradation and direct it to the liver via the portal vein. This hepatic targeting is intended to mimic the natural physiological delivery of hormones from the pituitary to the liver. While the technology has been primarily advanced for insulin (HDV-Insulin), growth hormone has been utilized in research and publications to demonstrate the platform's ability to deliver various protein therapeutics orally.
