Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oral hexavalent reassortant rotavirus live attenuated vaccine (Vero cell), marketed under the trade names Rotasiro and Wusheng Erlunbao, is a live-attenuated vaccine developed by the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products (a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group/Sinopharm) for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants. The vaccine is constructed on the backbone of the bovine rotavirus UK Compton strain (G6P[5]) and incorporates reassorted human VP7 gene fragments to cover six major rotavirus serotypes: G1, G2, G3, G4, G8, and G9. It was approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in August 2025 for infants aged 6 to 36 weeks, offering a broader spectrum of protection compared to existing pentavalent vaccines by uniquely including the G8 and G9 serotypes.
