The Oral mRNA RSV Vaccine is an investigational mRNA-based oral vaccine being developed by Esperovax for the prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection. Utilizing the proprietary Egress platform, the vaccine employs modified yeast cells encapsulated in an oral delivery format, such as a capsule or tablet. Upon ingestion, the yeast cells are engineered to synthesize mRNA just before reaching the small intestine, where the mRNA is delivered to immune cells in the gastrointestinal tract. These cells then translate the mRNA into viral antigens, triggering both mucosal and systemic immune responses. This approach aims to provide a thermostable and non-invasive alternative to traditional injectable vaccines, leveraging the high concentration of immune cells in the gut to stimulate protective immunity.
