Oral multivalent reassortant rotavirus attenuated live vaccine (Vero cell), also known as TAB-5101, is a live-attenuated, human-bovine reassortant rotavirus vaccine being developed by Shandong Yidu Biotechnology in collaboration with the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). The vaccine utilizes human-bovine reassortant rotavirus strains (where genes encoding the outer capsid VP7 proteins from clinically important human rotavirus serotypes are inserted into a bovine rotavirus backbone) cultivated in Vero cells. It is designed for oral administration to induce protective immunity against rotavirus gastroenteritis and rotavirus-associated diarrhea in infants and young children. The vaccine is currently in preclinical development.
