This oral myostatin inhibitor is a macrocyclic therapeutic peptide being developed through a collaboration between PeptiDream and Modulus Discovery. Discovered using PeptiDream's Peptide Discovery Platform System (PDPS) and Modulus Discovery's computational chemistry platform, the candidate is designed to overcome the traditional challenges of oral peptide delivery. It acts by binding to and inhibiting myostatin (growth differentiation factor 8), a member of the TGF-beta superfamily that negatively regulates skeletal muscle mass. By blocking this pathway, the drug aims to increase muscle mass and strength, providing a potential treatment for neuromuscular diseases like Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), as well as age-related sarcopenia. Furthermore, the metabolic effects of increased muscle mass make it a candidate for treating obesity. The program is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
