Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Oral Peste des Petites Ruminants (PPR) Vaccine is a preclinical veterinary vaccine being developed by US Biologic in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh. It is designed to protect goats and other small ruminants from the Peste des Petites Ruminants virus (PPRV). The vaccine utilizes the OrisBio platform, which employs *Bacillus subtilis* spores as a delivery vehicle to express PPRV antigens. This oral delivery system is intended to provide a stable, heat-resistant, and easy-to-administer alternative to traditional injectable vaccines, which is particularly beneficial for use in remote or resource-limited regions where PPR is endemic. The spores are designed to survive the gastrointestinal environment and induce a protective immune response in the host.
