Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oral poliovirus vaccine type 1 type 3 (human diploid cell), also known as bOPV, is a live attenuated bivalent oral vaccine developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products (BIBP), a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG). The vaccine contains live attenuated Sabin strains of poliovirus types 1 and 3 cultivated in human diploid cells (2BS strain). It is indicated for active immunization to prevent poliomyelitis, a highly infectious viral disease primarily affecting children under five years of age. Administered orally as drops, the vaccine induces both mucosal and systemic immunity against poliovirus serotypes 1 and 3. It was first approved in China in November 2015 and achieved WHO prequalification in December 2017, enabling its widespread distribution in international markets.
