Overview

Oralvac is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) product designed to treat severe allergies such as allergic rhinitis caused by house dust mite, tree pollen (including birch, alder, hazel, olive, cypress), grass pollen (including rye and B2 grasses), weed pollen and moulds[2][7]. It contains standardized aqueous allergen extracts in glycerol at various concentrations. The treatment works by modulating the immune response to specific allergens through repeated exposure via daily drops administered under the tongue. This approach aims to desensitize the immune system over time and reduce allergic symptoms when other medications have not been effective[1][3][5]. The therapy typically involves an initial up-dosing phase followed by a maintenance phase lasting several months or years. Clinical studies report good efficacy and tolerability with mostly mild local side effects such as oral itching or swelling[5].
