OraMoist

OraMoist is an over-the-counter mucoadhesive patch developed for the treatment of dry mouth (xerostomia). Classified by the FDA as a medical device under the category of 'Artificial Saliva,' it is a non-drug formula containing ingredients such as xylitol, lipids, citrus oil, sea salt, and a blend of enzymes including glucose oxidase, lysozyme, and lactoferrin. The tablet-sized patch adheres to the roof of the mouth or the inside of the cheek, providing time-released moisture and lubrication for 2 to 4 hours. OraMoist works by physically moistening the oral cavity while simultaneously stimulating endogenous saliva production and inhibiting bacterial growth. Clinical studies published in the Journal of the American Dental Association and Quintessence International have demonstrated that the patch provides significant improvement in both subjective and objective measures of dry mouth, including a 150% increase in salivary flow rates after 30 minutes of application.
