Overview
Orant (also known as QF-1501) is a small molecule, selective 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 4 (5-HT4) agonist developed by Jiangxi Qingfeng Pharmaceutical for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. By activating 5-HT4 receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, orant stimulates the release of acetylcholine from enteric neurons, which enhances gastric motility and accelerates gastric emptying. This mechanism is designed to alleviate symptoms of functional dyspepsia, such as postprandial fullness and early satiety, which are often associated with impaired gastric accommodation and delayed emptying. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China, following the completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2 studies that evaluated its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy.
