Overview
OraPro-EBV is a first-in-class oral vaccine candidate developed by iosBio (formerly Stabilitech Biopharma) designed to prevent Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection. The vaccine utilizes the proprietary OraPro™ platform, which enables the delivery of thermostable, AI-optimized antigens via an oral capsule. The vaccine targets multiple EBV glycoproteins, including gB, gHgL, the gHgL-gp42 complex, and gp350, which are critical for viral attachment and fusion. By targeting these proteins, OraPro-EBV aims to create a 'double barrier' defense: first by blocking infection of epithelial cells in the oral cavity, and second by preventing the virus from entering B cells where it typically establishes lifelong latency. This approach is intended to elicit both mucosal and systemic immunity to protect against EBV-linked conditions such as infectious mononucleosis, multiple sclerosis, and various EBV-associated malignancies.
