Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oratene is a line of veterinary oral care products designed to manage oral health in pets, particularly those suffering from dry mouth (xerostomia), gingivitis, and periodontal disease. Developed by Laclede, Inc. and marketed by Pet King Brands, Inc., the product line utilizes a patented enzyme system known as the LP3 Enzyme System (consisting of lactoperoxidase, lysozyme, and lactoferrin) supplemented with additional enzymes like mutanase and dextranase. These enzymes work synergistically to inhibit bacterial growth, break down plaque-forming biofilms, and boost the natural oral defenses of the animal without the need for mechanical brushing. The products are available in various forms, including gels, sprays, and water additives, and are intended for long-term use in dogs and cats to maintain oral hygiene and treat chronic conditions like stomatitis.
