Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oravax is an oral virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate developed by **Oravax Medical** (a joint venture between **Oramed Pharmaceuticals** and **Premas Biotech**) for the prevention of **COVID-19**. The vaccine is unique in its triple-antigen approach, targeting the **Spike (S)**, **Envelope (E)**, and **Membrane (M)** proteins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is intended to provide broader protection against emerging variants compared to single-antigen vaccines. It leverages Oramed's proprietary **POD™ (Protein Oral Delivery)** technology, which uses a specialized capsule to protect the VLP antigens from degradation in the gastrointestinal tract, and Premas Biotech's **D-Crypt™** yeast-based expression platform for VLP production. The oral route of administration aims to eliminate the need for needles and cold-chain storage, potentially increasing global vaccine accessibility.
