Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OraVital FM4 is a prescription-only topical antibiotic oral rinse developed by OraVital Inc. for the treatment of periodontal disease, peri-implantitis, halitosis, and dental caries. It is a combination product containing metronidazole and nystatin in a colloidal suspension. The formulation is specifically designed to target and disrupt oral biofilm bacteria, including pathogens such as *Fusobacterium nucleatum*, *Peptostreptococcus micros*, and *Tannerella forsythia*, as well as yeasts like *Candida albicans*. The rinse utilizes a particulate delivery system that allows the active ingredients to enter the gingival sulcus through the Venturi Effect, achieving significantly higher local concentrations than systemic administration. Clinical data indicates that the product can reduce periodontal pockets and bleeding points effectively within a two-week treatment period.
