Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Orawell Gel is a topical combination formulation developed and marketed by Jainson Biotech for the treatment of painful mouth ulcers and gum inflammation. It contains choline salicylate (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), tannic acid (an astringent), and benzalkonium chloride (an antiseptic). Choline salicylate provides rapid relief from pain and swelling by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Tannic acid precipitates surface proteins to form a protective barrier over the ulcerated mucosa, shielding it from irritation and promoting healing. Benzalkonium chloride acts as a local antiseptic to prevent secondary bacterial infections. Orawell Gel is applied topically to the affected areas of the oral cavity.
