Overview

Orca-Q is an investigational, high-precision allogeneic cell therapy developed by Orca Bio for the treatment of high-risk hematologic malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It is specifically designed for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with haploidentical (mismatched) donors. The therapy consists of a proprietary, purified composition of CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells along with specific T cell subsets. By precisely controlling the cellular graft composition, Orca-Q aims to facilitate rapid immune reconstitution and maintain the graft-versus-leukemia (GvL) effect while significantly reducing the incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). A key clinical objective of Orca-Q is to eliminate the need for high-dose post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy), which is the standard of care for haploidentical transplants but is associated with significant toxicity.
