Overview

Orcinoside is a natural product-derived small molecule developed as a novel antidepressant. It has been investigated primarily for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Orcinoside acts on the central nervous system and has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials for depression. The drug was initially developed by the Kunming Institute of Zoology and is classified as a Class 1 natural antidepressant in China. Its mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but it is believed to modulate neurotransmitter systems relevant to mood regulation. Clinical studies have evaluated its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and dose-response relationship in both healthy volunteers and patients with depression[1][3][10].
