ORE1001

ORE1001 is an orally administered small molecule developed by Ore Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. It is a specific inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a key component in the renin-angiotensin system. By inhibiting ACE2, ORE1001 was shown to decrease tissue myeloperoxidase activity—a marker of inflammation—suggesting potential anti-inflammatory effects in gastrointestinal conditions. The drug underwent phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials for ulcerative colitis and was also studied for NSAID-induced ulcers and obesity; however, all development programs were discontinued before approval[1][2][8].
