Org 201745-0 is an investigational small molecule progestogen that was developed by Organon (a subsidiary of Akzo Nobel at the time) in collaboration with Orion Pharma for use as an oral contraceptive. It functions as a progesterone receptor agonist, intended to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and inhibit ovulation. The compound entered Phase I clinical development, including a single ascending oral dose study in healthy sterilized women to evaluate its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. However, development was discontinued after Phase I results did not meet the required profile for further progression.
