Overview

Org 28611 (SCH-900111) is a potent, water-soluble synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist developed by Organon International. It acts as a full agonist at both the cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors. The drug was designed to be suitable for intravenous use, with primary indications as an analgesic and sedative. Org 28611 progressed to Phase II clinical trials in humans for these uses; however, its efficacy was not favorable compared to standard drugs such as midazolam (for sedation) and morphine (for analgesia). As a result, development was discontinued[1][2][4][5][8].
