Overview

OriCAR-017 is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy that targets G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member D (GPRC5D), a protein overexpressed in multiple myeloma cells but minimally present in normal tissues. The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T cells to express a CAR specific for GPRC5D, enabling targeted recognition and destruction of malignant plasma cells. Preclinical and early clinical studies have demonstrated robust anti-tumor activity, deep and durable responses, and a favorable safety profile in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, including those who have failed prior BCMA-targeted therapies. OriCAR-017 has received Fast Track Designation and Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for this indication[1][3][4][6][8].
