ORIL-007

ORIL-007 is a preclinical saponin-based natural product drug candidate being developed by Oncology Research International for oncology and anti-angiogenic applications. The compound is described as a membrane-modifying steroid saponin derivative with a first-in-class mechanism centered on perturbation of the cellular plasma membrane, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. ORIL-007 has been presented by the developer as having activity across multiple solid tumors including breast, lung, colon, ovarian, prostate, melanoma, and pancreatic cancers, and it has also been explored in discovery or preclinical work for angiogenesis-related non-oncology conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, and cardiac disease. ORIL has also disclosed oral and dermal formulation programs of this asset and reports use of a proprietary synthesis and GMP scale-up approach to improve consistency of this saponin family compound.
