Orlance's Coccidioides nucleic acid vaccine is a preclinical prophylactic candidate designed to prevent Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis), a fungal infection caused by *Coccidioides immitis* or *Coccidioides posadasii*. The vaccine is delivered using the proprietary MACH-1 (Micro-particle Accelerated Cellular High-efficiency) platform, an epidermal powdered gene gun (EPGG). This technology involves coating gold microparticles with DNA plasmids encoding fungal antigens and accelerating them into the epidermal layer of the skin. By delivering the genetic material directly to the skin's immune-rich environment, specifically targeting Langerhans cells and dermal dendritic cells, the vaccine aims to elicit potent cellular and humoral immune responses without the need for traditional needles or cold-chain storage.
