Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ORM-13070 is a carbon-11 labeled small molecule radioligand developed by the **University of Turku** in collaboration with **Orion Pharma**. It functions as a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer specifically designed to image and quantify **alpha-2C (α2C) adrenoceptor** binding in the human brain. While α2C-adrenoceptors are potential therapeutic targets for various neuropsychiatric conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease, ORM-13070 itself is a diagnostic imaging tool rather than a therapeutic agent. It is utilized in clinical research to monitor changes in synaptic noradrenaline concentrations by observing the displacement of the tracer under pharmacological or physiological challenge conditions, such as the administration of ketamine or atomoxetine.
