ORMD-0802 is an investigational oral formulation of the hormone leptin, developed by Oramed Pharmaceuticals. It utilizes the company's proprietary Protein Oral Delivery (POD) technology, which is designed to protect protein-based drugs from proteolytic degradation in the gastrointestinal tract and enhance their absorption into the portal vein, thereby mimicking the natural physiological path of hormones. Leptin is a 16-kDa peptide hormone that regulates energy balance by inhibiting hunger, primarily through its action on the hypothalamus.
