Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Orna Therapeutics-protective antigens-circular RNA vaccine (oRNA)-LNP delivery-infectious diseases refers to a preclinical research program focused on developing circular RNA (oRNA) vaccines for infectious diseases. Developed by Orna Therapeutics in collaboration with Merck (MSD), the platform utilizes proprietary oRNA technology where linear RNA is circularized to create highly stable molecules with reduced immunogenicity and extended protein expression compared to traditional linear mRNA. These oRNA molecules are engineered to encode protective antigens against various infectious disease pathogens and are encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for efficient delivery. The collaboration with Merck, initiated in 2022, aims to develop multiple circular RNA-based vaccines and therapeutics, leveraging the potential of oRNA to provide superior durability and efficacy in preventing infectious diseases.
