Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Orosartan** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination containing amlodipine orotate and valsartan. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine L-type calcium-channel blocker that reduces vascular smooth-muscle contraction, while valsartan is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist that inhibits angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone signaling. The product was developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical and subsequently managed by Dong-A ST for treatment of essential hypertension; clinical studies included patients whose blood pressure was uncontrolled with valsartan monotherapy.
