Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ORTHO-R** is an investigational implantable regenerative medicine combination product developed by Ortho Regenerative Technologies and subsequently by ChitogenX for surgical soft-tissue repair. It consists of a freeze-dried chitosan biopolymer matrix combined at the point of care with autologous platelet-rich plasma. The chitosan matrix stabilizes the platelet-rich clot at the repair site, reduces clot retraction, and supports localized release of platelet-derived growth factors and other bioactive factors intended to promote tissue healing. Its lead clinical indication is augmentation of surgical repair for rotator cuff tears, with additional development applications in meniscal, tendon, ligament, cartilage, and wound repair.
