Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ORTHOALLO-BM-MSC is an advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) consisting of expanded allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs). Developed by the Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, it is designed to treat complex orthopedic conditions such as delayed union and non-union of long bone fractures. The therapeutic effect is mediated by the local administration of these cells, which facilitate bone regeneration through direct differentiation into osteoblasts and the secretion of paracrine factors that stimulate angiogenesis and modulate the local inflammatory environment. This approach aims to provide a biological stimulus for bone repair in patients where standard surgical interventions have failed.
