Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OrthoDerm is a low-dose nitroglycerin transdermal patch specifically developed for the treatment of chronic lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). Developed by Cure Therapeutics, it utilizes a patch delivery system to provide a sustained, localized release of nitroglycerin to the affected tendon site. Nitroglycerin acts as an exogenous source of nitric oxide (NO), a molecule essential for tendon repair. In tendinopathy, nitric oxide is thought to stimulate collagen synthesis by fibroblasts and enhance local microcirculation in the hypovascular region of the tendon. By modulating these biological pathways, OrthoDerm aims to accelerate the healing process, reduce pain, and restore functional mobility in patients with chronic tendon injuries.
