OrthoFill

OrthoFill is a resorbable bone void filler developed by Kensey Nash Corporation (now part of DSM) and distributed by Biomet Sports Medicine (now Zimmer Biomet). It is a composite biomaterial engineered using Kensey Nash's proprietary Porous Tissue Matrix Technology, which creates foamed scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. The product is composed of a proprietary collagen formulation, a synthetic polymer, and a ceramic component, creating an osteoconductive structure optimized for bone regeneration. OrthoFill is designed to be packed into bony voids or gaps in the skeletal system, such as those in the extremities and pelvis, that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bone. It acts as a scaffold that facilitates the infiltration of bone-forming cells and is gradually resorbed and replaced by natural bone during the healing process. It received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2006.
