Overview

Ortodermina is a topical local anesthetic formulation containing 5% lidocaine hydrochloride. It is specifically designed to provide symptomatic relief from pain, itching, and burning associated with various skin conditions, including inflammation, minor wounds, and dermatological trauma. As an amide-type local anesthetic, lidocaine works by stabilizing the neuronal membrane through the inhibition of ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. This is achieved by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in the neuronal cell membrane. Produced by SOFAR S.p.A., Ortodermina is used in clinical practice for localized wound management and the relief of pruritic or painful skin irritations.
