Oscarvit

Oscarvit (OSC) is an in-house bioactive nutraceutical preparation developed by researchers at the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (Kiel). It is a multicomponent formulation comprising calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, strontium, Vitamin D, and eggshell membrane hydrolysate, which contains naturally occurring glycosaminoglycans and sulfated glycoproteins. Oscarvit is designed to treat osteoporosis and related skeletal diseases by promoting bone mineralization. Its primary mechanism of action involves the activation of the AKT signaling pathway in osteoblasts, which in turn stimulates the expression of osteoblast-specific genes essential for bone formation. Clinical evaluation in a small open-label study (DRKS00013233) demonstrated improvements in skeletal pain and bone mineralization.
