Overview

Xinghao Meiying is an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) formulation of oseltamivir phosphate, a neuraminidase inhibitor used for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza A and B. Developed by Beijing Xinghao Pharmaceutical in collaboration with the Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, this formulation is designed to provide a more convenient administration route for patients with dysphagia, such as children and the elderly. Oseltamivir acts as a prodrug that is converted to its active metabolite, oseltamivir carboxylate, which selectively inhibits the viral neuraminidase enzyme. This inhibition prevents the cleavage of sialic acid residues on the host cell surface, thereby blocking the release of newly formed viral progeny and limiting the spread of the infection within the respiratory tract.
