Osengleiset is a botanical drug candidate developed by the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Derived from the plant *Osbeckia nepalensis* Hook. (Nepal Osbeckia), it is a standardized extract formulated as an oral capsule. The drug is classified as a multi-target antidepressant, with preclinical evidence suggesting it acts by inhibiting the reuptake of monoamine neurotransmitters, specifically serotonin and norepinephrine, thereby increasing their synaptic concentrations. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China for adult outpatients with mild to moderate MDD.
