Overview

Osocimab is a fully human monoclonal IgG1 antibody that acts as a selective inhibitor of activated coagulation factor XI (factor XIa). Developed using phage display technology, it binds directly and specifically to a region adjacent to the FXIa active site, inhibiting its activity through an allosteric mechanism. Osocimab is being investigated primarily for anticoagulation in patients at risk of thromboembolic events, such as those undergoing orthopedic surgery or with kidney failure on hemodialysis. It has demonstrated dose-dependent prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and is associated with a low risk of bleeding in clinical trials. The drug was developed by Bayer[2][3][4][6][7].
