Ossix Bone is a resorbable, sponge-like bone grafting matrix developed by Datum Dental (now a part of Dentsply Sirona). It is composed of 80% hydroxyapatite and 20% porcine collagen that has been cross-linked using GLYMATRIX technology, a proprietary sugar-based cross-linking process. This technology is designed to provide a scaffold that resists rapid degradation, allowing for coordinated bone ingrowth and volume maintenance during the healing process. Ossix Bone is primarily indicated for ridge preservation following tooth extraction to prevent alveolar ridge resorption and for other bone augmentation procedures in the oral cavity. It is unique in that it can often be used without a covering membrane in certain clinical applications.
