Ossix Bone is a dental bone grafting material developed by Datum Dental (now a part of Dentsply Sirona) for use in guided bone regeneration (GBR) and guided tissue regeneration (GTR) procedures, specifically for ridge preservation following tooth extraction. It is a resorbable, sponge-like scaffold composed of 80% hydroxyapatite and 20% porcine collagen. The product utilizes the proprietary GLYMATRIX technology, which employs ribose (a natural sugar) to cross-link collagen fibers. This cross-linking mimics the natural collagen maturation process, providing the matrix with enhanced biostability and a controlled degradation profile that supports osteoconduction and the formation of new vital bone. It is designed to prevent alveolar ridge resorption and maintain the volume of the extraction socket to facilitate future dental implant placement.
