Overview

Ostabolin-C (ZT-031) is a proprietary cyclic 31-amino acid analog of parathyroid hormone (PTH), developed as an osteogenesis stimulant for the treatment of osteoporosis and other bone-related disorders. It acts as a bone formation agent by activating the parathyroid hormone type 1 receptor, leading to increased bone mineral density (BMD) and elevated markers of bone formation. Clinical studies in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis demonstrated dose-dependent increases in BMD at key skeletal sites with a favorable safety profile and low incidence of hypercalcemia. The drug was investigated for subcutaneous and intranasal administration routes. Development was led by Zelos Therapeutics Inc., later Azelon Pharmaceuticals, but clinical development has been discontinued for all indications including osteoporosis and osteodystrophy[1][3][4][5].
