Overview

Ostenil Tendon is a branded, injectable viscoelastic solution of highly purified, biofermented sodium hyaluronate at 2% (40 mg/2 ml) combined with mannitol, developed for peritendinous or intrasheath administration to treat pain and restricted mobility associated with tendinopathies and other tendon disorders.[1][9][11][14][13] As a high–molecular weight hyaluronic acid device, it acts locally to restore lubrication and viscoelasticity within the tendon sheath, enhancing tendon gliding, reducing adhesions, and limiting diffusion of inflammatory cells and mediators, while mannitol scavenges free radicals to stabilize the hyaluronate chains and prolong their local persistence.[1][11][14] The product is supplied as a single-use, pre-filled 2 ml syringe and is typically given as two injections at weekly intervals around or into the tendon sheath, and is classified and marketed as a medical device rather than a systemic pharmaceutical drug.[1][9][11][15]
