Overview
OsteoActivator-C (OP003) is a Class 3 medical device developed by Osteo-Pharma BV. It consists of orthopedic implants coated with the proprietary OsteoActivator™ technology, which utilizes EMA and FDA-approved low molecular weight pharmaceuticals encapsulated within a biodegradable carrier. The device is designed to provide sustained release of these compounds over a 6-8 week period to enhance osseointegration and bone-implant fixation. Its mechanism of action involves simultaneously promoting bone formation and inhibiting bone resorption in the area adjacent to the implant. OsteoActivator-C is administered via surgical implantation and is primarily intended for orthopedic indications to improve implant stability and prevent loosening. Preclinical studies have demonstrated increased bone formation in trabecular bone adjacent to coated screws.
