OsteoAdapt SP is an investigational biologic-enhanced spinal fusion implant designed for patients with degenerative disc disease and other spinal conditions. It combines Theradaptive's next-generation engineered protein AMP2—a modified, adhesive variant of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2)—with a synthetic bone graft scaffold. AMP2 retains the potent osteogenic properties of BMP-2 while minimizing off-target effects commonly associated with BMP-2. The implant is placed in the spinal fusion cage during surgery to stimulate anatomically precise local bone growth and promote rapid, robust fusion. Preclinical studies have shown that OsteoAdapt SP achieves faster and more effective bone formation than autograft or standard-of-care alternatives, potentially eliminating the need for harvesting a patient’s own bone or using donor tissue. The product is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials (OASIS trial) for multiple lumbar interbody fusion approaches including TLIF, ALIF, and LLIF procedures[1][2][5]. Additional development includes potential applications in dental, orthopedic, sports medicine, and veterinary fields[4][6].
