Overview

OsteoBiol GTO is a fully resorbable, xenogeneic bone substitute material manufactured by the Italian company Tecnoss. It is specifically designed for use in dental regenerative procedures, such as immediate post-extractive single implant placement. The material consists of a mixture of collagenated heterologous cortico-cancellous porcine bone granules (sized 600-1000 µm) combined with a thermogelling copolymer and collagen, which allows it to be delivered via syringe as a stable, gel-like paste. GTO acts as an osteoconductive scaffold, facilitating the migration and attachment of osteogenic cells and the subsequent formation of new bone. It is characterized by gradual resorption, eventually being replaced by the patient's natural bone. Clinical trials led by researcher Marco Esposito have compared GTO to other bone substitutes like Apatos to evaluate its efficacy in preserving alveolar bone volume and improving aesthetic outcomes in implant dentistry.
