Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Osteocel Plus is a cellular bone allograft developed by NuVasive, designed to facilitate bone fusion in orthopedic and spinal surgeries. It is a proprietary product that retains native mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and osteoprogenitor cells within a demineralized bone matrix (DBM) scaffold. By providing the three essential elements for bone formation—osteoconduction (scaffold), osteoinduction (growth factors), and osteogenesis (living cells)—Osteocel Plus serves as an alternative to autograft (patient's own bone). It is primarily used in procedures such as Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF), Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF), and eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) to treat degenerative spinal conditions.
