**OsteoDex** is an investigational, bone-targeted polybisphosphonate polymer conjugate developed by DexTech Medical for cancer involving the skeleton, principally metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. It consists of a dextran carbohydrate backbone bearing covalently coupled alendronate and guanidine moieties. The alendronate-containing bisphosphonate component promotes accumulation at mineralized bone surfaces, while the agent inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and has reported cytotoxic antitumor activity. Clinical development has included completed Phase II studies in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with bone metastases and a Phase I/IIa study in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
