Osteofortil

Osteofortil is a brand name for teriparatide, a recombinant form of human parathyroid hormone (PTH) consisting of the first 34 amino acids (PTH 1-34). Developed by the Argentine company Bio Sidus, it is a follow-on biologic or biosimilar to the reference product Forteo. Teriparatide serves as an anabolic agent that stimulates bone formation by binding to and activating the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R) on osteoblasts. This mechanism of action directly increases bone mass and improves bone microarchitecture, distinguishing it from antiresorptive treatments like bisphosphonates. Osteofortil is primarily indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and osteoporosis in men at high risk for fracture, and is typically administered via daily subcutaneous injection.
