Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OsteoKing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily indicated for the treatment of bone fractures, osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), and osteoporosis. Developed through collaboration involving the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital and Kunming Jida Pharmaceutical, it is a multi-herb preparation containing extracts from *Panax notoginseng*, *Carthamus tinctorius*, *Astragalus membranaceus*, and other botanical sources. The drug works by promoting osteoblast proliferation and differentiation while simultaneously inhibiting osteoclast activity. It modulates key bone metabolism pathways, specifically increasing the expression of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP-2) and improving the Osteoprotegerin (OPG) to Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B Ligand (RANKL) ratio. Additionally, OsteoKing is known to enhance local microcirculation and reduce blood viscosity, which facilitates the delivery of nutrients to the site of bone injury or necrosis.
