Overview

Osteosong, also known by its Pinyin name Gusongbao, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily indicated for the treatment of bone-related disorders, including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and skeletal fluorosis. It is a multi-ingredient botanical product developed in China, with significant research and clinical evaluation conducted by institutions such as Guizhou Medical University. The formulation typically consists of a blend of herbal extracts, including *Epimedium brevicornu* (Herba Epimedii), *Dipsacus asper* (Radix Dipsaci), *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Anemarrhena asphodeloides*, *Psoralea corylifolia*, and *Astragalus membranaceus*. Osteosong is designed to modulate bone metabolism by promoting osteoblast proliferation and differentiation while inhibiting osteoclast activity, thereby increasing bone mineral density and alleviating bone pain. In the context of endemic skeletal fluorosis, it is studied for its potential to mitigate radiographic changes and improve physical function in patients suffering from chronic fluoride toxicity.
