Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ostifit is an oral combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by the Indian company Positif Life Sciences for the management of bone-related disorders. The product is available in multiple formulations, most notably Ostifit BC and Ostifit D3. These formulations typically contain calcitriol, the active hormonal form of vitamin D3, and calcium carbonate. Calcitriol acts as an agonist of the vitamin D receptor (VDR), which is essential for maintaining calcium homeostasis and promoting bone mineralization by increasing intestinal calcium absorption. Calcium carbonate provides a supplemental source of elemental calcium, a critical structural component of the bone matrix. Some versions, like Ostifit BC, also incorporate retinol (vitamin A), which plays a role in bone remodeling and cellular differentiation. Ostifit is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, hypocalcemia, and deficiencies in calcium or vitamin D.
